Landon Donovan’s Movement and Run Creates Winning Goal in LA Galaxy’s 4-3 Win

Landon Donovan scored the winning goal in a seven-goal thriller, as LA Galaxy overcame the Colorado Rapids 4-3 in the MLS.Donovan, making a pass in his own half, can then be seen making a stunning run to find position and space before he is played in again to score in style. You can see him at the start of the clip right at the bottom of the screen.We've pulled the clip a little further back than the official MLS video to show the entirety of Donovan's movement. Why Real Salt Lake Should Be the Favorites to Win MLS Cup

Heading into the 2014 MLS season, Real Salt Lake appointed a new head coach in Jeff Cassar to replace the highly successful Jason Kreis. Given Kreis’ accomplishments at Rio Tinto Stadium, a lot of fans were nervous about the upcoming campaign under new leadership. However, RSL has quietly surged to the top of the Western Conference following its 2-1 win over the Seattle Sounders on Saturday afternoon. Salt Lake has 42 points after 24 games, with a one-point lead over the Sounders. Seattle has two games in hand on RSL, but don’t be surprised if the Claret and Cobalt are the No. 1 seed in the West by the end of the season. Cassar has had an impressive debut campaign with RSL, and the key has been creating a close-knit squad. No key players departed from the club in the winter, and that’s due in large part to general manager Garth Lagerwey, who’s arguably the best in MLS. MLS Player Power Rankings After Matches from August 15-17

Winners and Losers from MLS Matches from August 15-17

MLS Team of the Week for Matches from August 15-17: Castillo, Akindele Shine

Plenty of attackers caught fire in Week 23 of play in Major League Soccer, but no duo were as hot as Fabian Castillo and Tesho Akindele. Toronto FC’s Bright Dike Kicks Own Shoe into Goal

Toronto FC was taking on Sporting Kansas City on Saturday when an odd thing happened.Near the end of the game—a 4-1 win for Sporting KC—Toronto's Bright Dike received the ball outside the penalty box, turned and fired at goal, and his shoe came flying off. Raymon Gaddis Scores Unlucky, Embarrassing Own Goal in Houston vs. Philadelphia

Raymon Gaddis has scored a goal to forget. As far as own goals go, this one could have been worse. After all, his Philadelphia Union were nearly defeated already, trailing 1-0 to the Houston Dynamo with just seconds remaining until stoppage time. But it still can't have felt great.
