Los Angeles Galaxy vs. Liga Deportiva Alajuelense: Redemption Time For LA
Bruce Arena's Los Angeles Galaxy did not acquit themselves ahead of Wednesday night's CONCACAF Champions League match with Liga Deportiva Alajuelense. The Galaxy were dropped in a 2-1 defeat late in the second half to Monarcas Morelia and were just rebounding with their 3-0 victory over the Vancouver Whitecaps in MLS action. “I don’t think that was an easy game,” Arena told MLSSoccer.com's Luis Bueno. “I thought Vancouver played quite hard, really gave us an excellent first half. That’s not a 3-0 game.” “We found a way to put that [loss to Morelia] behind us pretty quickly, which shows a lot for our team,” said Galaxy midfielder Mike Magee. “Getting a win quick was good because sometimes after those losses, they get contagious and you could lose a couple of games after.” Forward Robbie Keane scored in the Galaxy's defeat to Morelia in the 52nd minute. “Most important thing tonight was bouncing back from mid-week and we managed to do that,” Keane said. “Like anything, when you’re winning games and scoring goals it makes thing a lot easier, and that’s been the case since I’ve been here. So far it’s been going well and all-in-all, very happy.” Oscar Ramirez's Alajuelense ...19Sep/110

LA Galaxy vs Vancouver Whitecaps: Mike Magee on Fire in 3-0 Win
"Magee! Magee! Magee is on fire!" That was the chanting of the men and women of the Angel City Brigade as they celebrated a brace from Mike Magee in the 40th and 75th minutes en route to a 3-0 victory for Bruce Arena's Los Angeles Galaxy over Tom Soehn's Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday, Sept. 17 at the Home Depot Center. Forget about the fact that Robbie Keane somersaulted his way to his third goal in all competitions in a Galaxy uniform in the 64th minute. This was Magee's night. Magee, a longtime fan favorite, finished off a sequence from David Beckham and Keane in the 40th minute to drill one past Whitecaps goalkeeper and former Galaxy netminder Joe Cannon, who was making his 300th appearance in Major League Soccer. In the 75th minute, Magee received a cross from Bryan Jordan to effectively put the game out of reach. I have a bit of a gripe with the officiating by Michael Kennedy and crew. In the ninth minute, Cannon clearly pushed the ball out of bounds on a pass by Keane inside the six-yard box. Kennedy called a goal kick when it should have been an offsides. I sympathize a bit ...16Sep/110

This Is The Los Angeles Galaxy: Dasan Robinson
This is Part 14 in a list of players who will play for the Los Angeles Galaxy in the 2011 Major League Soccer season. Dasan Robinson, turns out you can go home again. After a brief stint with Toronto FC, Robinson will be reunited with Dave Sarachan, his mentor from his time with the Chicago Fire. Sarachan is now a member of Bruce Arena's Los Angeles Galaxy coaching staff. With the defense running thin, Robinson has an opportunity to shore up the backline of one of Major League Soccer's best teams this season. Dasan Alexander Robinson was born in Evanston, Illinois, on June 4, 1984. Robinson grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and was a graduate of Elyria High School. A top defender at the University of Dayton, Robinson played four seasons with the Flyers before joining the Chicago Fire Premier of the USL Premier Development League. Robinson recorded six goals in 13 assists in 68 matches for the Flyers. After 29 appearances on defense for the Fire Premier, Robinson was selected as the 22nd overall pick in the second round by the Chicago Fire in the 2006 MLS Supplemental Draft. There, he was tutored by Sarachan, making 85 league appearances ...15Sep/110
Los Angeles Galaxy vs. Vancouver Whitecaps: Uncertainty Deluxe for LA?
Bruce Arena's Los Angeles Galaxy are a wounded bunch as they straggle, bleeding, dazed and confused, ahead of their Saturday Major League Soccer contest against the Vancouver Whitecaps (Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. PT/10:30 p.m. ET, Fox Sports West). Donovan Ricketts' return couldn't have come at a better time. Any more starts for Josh Saunders in league play and the crowd at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California may as well leave the stadium in tears. That's because Saunders unacceptably conceded two goals from Monarcas Morelia in CONCACAF Champions League action on Tuesday, while the team was denied a second of their own due to an offsides call. Of course, they were missing Juninho that night for sure, but that is a different story. As for captain Landon Donovan, it was a matter of "What, Me Worry?". “We’re fine, actually,” Donovan told MLSSoccer.com's Luis Bueno. “We executed our game plan exactly how we wanted. If a couple of calls go our way it’s a completely different game and we’re really happy walking out of here. Overall the effort was great and we can’t be too disappointed.” Now, the Galaxy will come into the contest with Vancouver as prohibitive favorites, ...14Sep/110
CCL: After 2-1 Defeat to Morelia, What’s Next for Los Angeles Galaxy?
Well, Mr. Robbie Keane, I hope you have been given an education on how things are done in regional play here at the CONCACAF Champions League. Out of all the people in the class, you passed the first test. As for the rest of you on Bruce Arena's side that proceeded to fail this first exam with flying colors...now what? After an embarrassing defeat away to Monarcas Morelia that sees the Los Angeles Galaxy relinquish their lead in Group A of the 2011-12 CONCACAF Champions League, what is next for the league leaders in MLS? There is the Saturday match to attend to against the Vancouver Whitecaps (kickoff: 7:30 p.m. PT/10:30 p.m. ET, Fox Sports West). But even though that match has the Galaxy as favorites, that may not be so certain with Los Angeles being prone to surrendering leads left and right. In addition, the Galaxy, who wasted a 52nd minute goal by Keane, have a match on Wednesday, Sept. 21 against L.D. Alajuelense on the road at Alajuela, Costa Rica. A victory there is crucial and giving up goals late to players of Adrian Aldrete's and Miguel Sabah's caliber is simply unacceptable.Actually, allowing opponents to attack and attack ...12Sep/110
