Mix Diskerud Talks NYCFC, Adjusting to MLS and Status as a USMNT Fan Favorite
Over the last two years, Mix Diskerud has become one of the top United States men's national team players. And as many will note, he is quite the hit with the fans of the USMNT as well. The midfielder joined New York City FC during the Major League Soccer offseason and has gotten off to a strong start in manager Jason Kreis' system. One of the things the 24-year-old enjoys about his new club is the former Real Salt Lake boss' style of play. “I definitely like his style of playing," Diskerud told Bleacher Report after Friday's training session. "He wants to go through the ground, fast-paced on the ball and one-two touch. That’s the way I think soccer should be played." Diskerud received some tips about Kreis from two of his USMNT teammates before he moved to the Big Apple from Rosenborg BK in Norway. "I had Kyle (Beckerman) and Nick (Rimando) say nothing but good things about him before I got here, so I was very confident that he was a great coach," the midfielder said. Beckerman and Rimando, who are still at RSL, thrived under the tutelage of Kreis, who was in charge from 2007-2013 before joining NYCFC a year before it took ...10Apr/150

Sean St Ledger Has to Clarify He Isn’t Dating Taylor Swift After Internet Rumour
Sean St Ledger played 37 times for Ireland, has represented a host of clubs in the U.K. and now in the later years of his career is on an adventure with Orlando City in the MLS. He probably never thought he'd have to explain that he isn't dating Taylor Swift. Still, that's where he found himself this week as the rumour took hold. It began after the pair were pictured at a New Year's event. It continued after an interview with Soccer Republic, when he said he is "sitting on the fence," when asked directly. That allowed the rumours—and the jokes—to spread: But eventually St Ledger shut it down: I think the guys @SoccRepublic cut out an important part of that interview where I said that I think miss swift is seeing a certain dj! — Sean St Ledger (@seanstledger12) April 8, 2015 St Ledger was referring to Calvin Harris, who is believed to be her current partner. Picking an MLS All-Star XI Capable of Competing in Europe’s Top Leagues
This season, a number of players have swapped life in the European leagues for Major League Soccer, but who could genuinely compete if they went the other way? United States internationals Jermaine Jones, Jozy Altidore, Sacha Kljestan, Mix Diskerud, Juan Agudelo and Brek Shea have all pitched up at various MLS sides in 2014/2015, not to mention Kaka, David Villa, Sebastian Giovinco and the soon-to-be-arriving Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard. In this slideshow, we cast our eye over the division and pick an all-star XI who have the skills to cut it in Europe's top leagues. The choices are based on performance levels from last season, while age also played a factor in who made the list. Set up in a 4-3-3 formation, we also include a selection of honourable mentions. Due to what we perceive as a lack of outstanding full-backs currently playing in MLS, you will notice that all our defensive choices are centre-backs. Those who have already played a significant number of games for European clubs will not be included, so no Robbie Keane, Michael Bradley or Clint Dempsey here. This is not an exhaustive selection. Is there anyone you feel is missing? Let us know below!Begin Slideshow8Apr/150

For the first time this season, four players made a legitimate argument to be named the top player in our weekly MLS Player Rankings. Because this is a cumulative ranking of the top 20 players in MLS, Shipp earned the small edge over the three stars of the league.
